Hey kids,

What do you want to see next, besides NESkimine 2.0?

Q3A? TFC? TF2? Bible Adventures?

I'm planning Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3.

TF2 is kind of a pain to setup, but i think it might be your best bet.
give forum members some sort of perk; like reserve slots or something.
do a bot fill up to 4 on a team.
24 player cap unless you get too many players, then 32.
get a few uncommon but good maps in rotation with a few favorites.
and you're pretty much good with that.
people also like stats plugins, map list plugins, and map voting.

reasoning: TF2 is free, and one of the only good current multiplayer games out right now.

i would say Q3A, as i love the game to death, but i'd need a contender. i haven't played in ages, but i know how good i was at one point. unless there is another old pro or someone who plays quake live: this won't be interesting. one of my favorite matches: 60 and 2 in a 9v1 online match, no bots. i'd mastered spinning while bunny hopping. i was a tornado.

Would anyone be interested in Garry's Mod?

I can only play it on my desktop, because my laptop's video card isn't good enough for it or something. But, I think we could have some lulz on a Gmod server.

I like making stuff in gmod, I've hosted a game or two a few times, it's a lot of fun making retarded things together.

Oh, I should point out, I'm going out of town for the next like...5 days, so I won't even have access to my desktop.

So, something that I could run on my shitty laptop would be awesome, too, haha.

gmod isn't exactly good for a persistent server type of thing. you run into problems after the map has been played for a few days and your server starts running out of memory. its also really easy to crash with prop spawning. it can work, but it will take lots of attention.

i'd kind of like to see one go a few days and call it quits when it crashes. maybe do some collab project.
i've played it at a lan several times. that kinda seems like where its best.

two examples of what we'd do:
everyone had to build a floating vehicle of some sort and have it suspended purely with baloons. once we were done we'd take off and the object was to shoot out each other's balloons with the revolver.

we've also done fortress building.
where group A builds a structure with the objective of keeping an arbitrary object inside its walls. there must be a way in. they are given 7-10 minutes to build before the invasion. they may continue to build during.

group B can not touch the other structure with gmod manipulators. during setup group B may build any preparations eg:cannon, balloon bombs, ect.

Okay, see, both of those ideas sound awesome. I'd love to have a fort building contest where the object in the end was to build catapults and take out the other guy's place.

Or, there's a mod called Boats or something (I can't remember the name) where you're given like 5 minutes, and then the world floods, and you have to shoot everyone else's rafts out from under them.

that sounds neat. but again; the problem is sustaining the server not how much funcan be had.

you could have mapvoting to switch the map and dump memory, but thats kind like putting a mapvote in minecraft and having the map changed when you're in the middle of working on something.

also given that gmod is very easy to crash: prop spawner -> anything -> spray.

if you're looking to have a server up for a day: gmod is fantastic.
if you're looking to run one over a sustained peroid of time: TF2 is a much better option.

if people have problems running it:
http://www.epcgaming.com/smf/support-69 ... -dx8-mode/
you can scale back which version of directX it uses.
i could run the game on an og xbox using DX8 mode by making a shortcut.
also: free.

It'd be cool to do some Urban Terror matches.

It's free and old as shit, so it'll run on anything.
