i'll just put this here: http://schtserv.com/

a private server that works with dreamcast, gc, and pc versions of PSO.
the site has a PSO blue burst (ep 1,2,&4) installer than you can download.

i had to restart my comp after install. it also didn't like a few of my more exotic usb devices being plugged in.

Holy fucking shit - I remember connecting to this years ago on my dreamcast!!!

I used... minicom, I think it was, on a machine running Mac OS X (version 10.1, probably) to sort-of act as a dial-up server for the dreamcast - so it would get re-routed over my broadband connection.

God damn. I would love to do this again. I still have a dreamcast and a phone chord, and I can scrounge up an old laptop with a modem. Oh man oh man oh man.

I'm aware, but I'm not really interested in putting the effort towards dealing with private server stuff for an ancient game

1) make account
2) install client
3) grab your game pad

this is what passes for effort these days?

@ neon: PSO2 is slated to launch 'summer of 2012'. whose summer i'm not sure, but from the sound of it sometime before august.

you could even skip step 3 altogether if you don't have a gamepad.

I'll probably dick around with the PC version if I can run it, but get serious once the VITA version hits

If it ends up being localized that is

Just signed up for the open beta for late June. It didn't occur to me until after I'd registered that I could've probably used google translate to help me with the forms, but after translating the confirmation e-mail, looks like I did ok anyway.
