So after a few months of testing, it seems that people have more fun with less stuff.

So we're gonna put the Tekkit server to rest and save the map.

I want to cook up a new event server with just basic mods and better mob AI. So that you may battle for NESkimox. <3

I support this.

If there's some way we can link servers without needing client mods, I'd be very inclined to take look at my "no mods" policy.

There totally is. It's the Transporter Mod for Bukkit, which Sleepy has been talking about for well over a year now. No client side stuff needed.

Looks like that's not the case - you have to patch your client, or use the Spout/Bukkit/Whatever launcher

no its not. i'd also talked about it with napalm briefly the day after he put his server up.
the idea was that since tekkit used spout to handle its client side mods; a spout client with a matching version should be able to cross connect using transporter.

Yeah - you have to use either Spout, Technic/Tekkit/Whatever, or patch the vanilla client.

I stand corrected. I didn't recall the need to patch the vanilla client.

you technically don't. not if you only want to use transporter portals. you only do for server to server. without the client patch the auto-redirect won't work properly.

Right, right - portals within the same server don't need any patching, but if you want to link servers - when you enter the portal, you just get kicked out.
