Looks like it'll be a 2D 16-bit Minecraft with leveling up, magic, and boss mobs.

I might have to investigate this.

i don't see the concept translating very well tbh.

random 3d generation is tough.

there is fortresscraft
http://www.fortresscraft.com/
but it is a reeeeeeeaaaally lame rip off.

what's going to make minecraft truly great is the mod scene.

Oh, yeah, I've seen fortresscraft, and it's just a blatant rip off with jazzed up graphics for the 360.

This game Terraria, however, looks like it's got its own ideas, too, instead of just taking the popularity of minecraft and going off that. There's a preview video on their site, and it looks pretty decent.

Okay, yeah, I think I'm kind of sold on this. Certainly want to check it out now.

If I didn't just buy The Witcher 2. :coookieesssss:
EDIT:
I forgot I had quite a bit extra saved up on my other bank account to where $10 wouldn't break me. :bluev:

we're playing together on a server Sleepy made right now. My internet keeps crapping out on me, though, which kinda sucks.

It's a blast, it's much more adventure driven than I expected. We already fought a couple of boss mobs and got some top tier armor. Now we're trying to figure out what's at the bottom of the map.

It's a really long way now.

Logged like 20 hours on this game already with Sleepy. Fucking nuts. I think I found the edge of the map. Kinda cool. We found a Dungeon, and there is a fucking pain in the ass skeletal mage mob that can shoot through walls, and they teleport, and one of those fuckers actually telefragged me. I was at like 1 heart left, and he fucking popped up where I was sitting and went "Surprise, Motherfucker! :redv: "

Already got Cid in on this, too. Which, btw, dude, you got some shit waiting for you in your chest. :awesome: Sleepy gets good gear, gives me his old stuff, I give Cid my old stuff. It's the Trickle Down effect and it actually works!

I think we've also beat all three of the boss mobs, too. Skeletron, Eye of Cthulhu (I'a Cthulhu? I get it. :coookieesssss: ), and Eater of Worlds. Might be more than that. I kinda hope there are, cuz I would love to get some more ass kicking in.

There's also seige nights where mobs spawn double and can bust down doors. We ended up just boxing all our NPCs into the house and break through the stone barriers when we wanted to get in, haha.

Oh, and until Monday, you buy 3 copies and get 1 free. 39.99 for 4 copies of the game is a pretty sweet deal.

I feel like this could be my game I play when I burn out on Minecraft and need a break for a bit, haha. And, I do sometimes.

So, I do this digging game instead, lolol.

Full Meteorite Armor + Rocket Boots + Shiny Red Balloon + Cloud In Bottle + Lucky Horseshoe + Band of Starpower = Jetpack Master.

Maxed out mana at 200, and I regen about 10 a second. I can sustain flight for about 10 to 13 seconds, and get a vertical lift of about 300 feet. Lucky Horseshoe ensures a safe return to earth, balloon and cloud allow me to get an extra boost on the initial take off (about an extra 40 feet).

Shit. Is. Awesome.

I mean, what's cooler than a jetpack in a fantasy adventure game? :awesome:

So I dusted off my old Small World map I had.
It has a straight fall to Hell.
I hit the bottom, and took 7720 damage.

I guess you could say... it was one hell of a fall. :yeeeeahhhhh:

EDIT:

Also, if you have my Steam name and I'm your friend. If you see Terraria being played, that usually means the server is up which is at cidterraria.dyndns.org

First of all I want to introduce myself. I'm Tiy and I do pixel art and design on Terraria. Up until now I've probably been the least vocal member of the team. I decided it was time for that to change, but it wouldn't be much of an introduction if I didn't bring you some good news would it?

One major addition to 1.0.4 will be a feature we're calling Social Costume Slots. Costume items will replace the look of your armor without altering it's stats, resulting in a beautiful convergence of fabulous and functional. Some costumes will require you to brush up on your textiles skills, whilst others will have you mercilessly spelunking the depths on an exciting fashion adventure.

Another hot issue I wanted to address was the removal of Cobalt armor and the addition of Grass armor. First of all, Cobalt armor will be back somewhere down the line, with all new functionality. We wanted to replace it with an armor more fitting of it's drop location and grass armor was the obvious choice. However, we're aware that armor changes are always going to be controversial. Given that armor is such a subjective issue. We're looking at ways to provide players with more variety per armor set, social items are only the beginning.

Finally I wanted to leave you with this..

1.0.4 .... Image

Take care everyone

I might start playing again soon. :coookieesssss:
