Here's the basic premise: the chat on the side inputs commands into the game. Saying a, b, start, up, down, left, right will make the character in Pokemon Red do it.

The game is lagging behind by about 30 seconds, and there are currently 60,000 people trying to move this character around.

It is the absolute stupidest thing I have seen the internet do in a long time, and it's amazing.

Somehow, whenever I tune in, they're just bumping around randomly into shit, and then I go to bed and wake up and they've somehow got another badge.

There's also a subreddit full of fan art, and it's fucking golden:
www.reddit.com/r/twitchplayspokemon

It's so mesmerizing and stupid, I love it.

been watching for a day or two now. Was going to ask if anyone saw it but kept forgetting.

I had dinner last night and watched them walk into a house. It took about 20 minutes to get to the other side of the room and 15 more to exit the house. I really just want to see a pokemon battle and watch how it really works.

Currently, they are in the Team Rocket Casino base.

Edit: I can't believe they got rid of Charmeleon. Here is to his legacy

I saw them do a couple of fights. It mostly consists of them flailing around randomly in the menu, going into the items page and looking at the Helix Fossil, and then they run away, or they hit stuff with whatever the first move on the move list is.

they've been stuck in Silph Co for about 5-8 hours. This might be where it all dies.

In Mt. Moon they've grabbed the Helix Fossil. Due to menu commands they bring the Helix fossil up quite a lot and try to "use" it to no avail. Thus, it has become their God for the time of the fallen.

So a few of the dedicated guys realize that their party needs a water type that can learn surf. A few of their key members start exclaiming they can get Eevee and evolve it into Vaporeon or Jolteon (as they need an electric type too). A good chunk of people are saying "fuck Eevee, Lapras is a guaranteed water type who can learn Surf. It is our best bet, we're fucked otherwise." Because, at little bit before this situation arose, they got to a PC and the hell in trying to deposit a pokemon was terrible. They deposited Jay Leno (Rattatta) and Abby K (Charmeleon, their highest level and, easily best, pokemon). In that same hell, Abby K and Jay Leno were released into the wild by all players. The Helix Fossil was also deposited into the system (a pokemon that could learn Swim, again, screwing them) Thus, pretty badly, gimping the team.
So against a few guys better judgment they got Eevee. Now, they'd have to get a water stone from the vending machine (that costs 2100 out of their 3000). Which, in and of itself, is a lot to ask.

So they try to drop Eevee off at the daycare to make room for Lapras. It is a huge struggle to get into the day care. After a long time trying to get there they jump over the ledge and would have to walk all the way back up the bike trail (the fighting along with just getting up it would take to long, they move on). They get to a vending machine, spend all of their money on some pokedolls and buy a fire stone. The pokedolls are immediately thrown away and, somehow, the fire stone is used on Eevee giving them Flareon.

They now have no pokemon who can learn Swim, a Pidgeot, Flareon, and a bunch of other trash. Flareon is seen as Satan for not allowing them to put Eevee in a daycare and keeping them from a water type. It was eevee's grand scheme that got rid of Jay Leno and Abby K.

Wow. I have followed too much of this.

the far right is the hell they've walked into

Note: Sleep for 8 hours, they''re still stuck in Silph Co. They've also lost about 23,000 players.

Things have hit an apex, I believe. The creator has instituted a "Democracy" system thanks to a large number of players suggesting it. Actions are placed and then tallied within seconds (5-10) and the action with the most votes is taken. An equally big group wants it to go back to every action gets input. So now, in chat, people can vote "Democracy" or "anarchy". It seems whichever one wins (or is winning) the tug of war is the system that will prevail.

They're still stuck in Silph Co, but that is mainly because they have deposited Flareon, Drowzee, The Helix Fossil, AND the SS Ticket into the PC. Probably unable to ever get them back.

They deposited the Lift Key into the computer. What the fuck is going on?

I think I like the democracy system, it seems like we'll actually be able to get through the game if that is instated. But everyone who is upset about it has been spamming start9 (it makes you hit the start button 9 times in a row) to stop the progress for the game.

So, basically, it looks like it's split between two parties, one that wants it stay the way it is and will be assholes if it doesn't, and the other that just wants to get through the damn game.

I don't think the point of the system was to ever "play the game" in a natural way. The democracy thing kind of kills the chaos of everyone matters. Democracy means the most efficient thing always gets done. The greatness of this is that they were completing the game when everyone was trying to do something at the same time.

I think the way it started is the way it should go and end. If they get stuck in an endless loop because 70k people can't work together. So be it.

LOL

They finally finished blue... but only by including a "democracy system" that would perform the command that the majority of chatters give.

that seems like cheating tho^^

Well, if they didn't have a democracy mode, the safari zone was going to be where that game died at.

I haven't really kept up with Gen 2 that much, but I was really excited for it at first. The stream's kind of died down a lot, too, it's down to like 10k people from what I've seen.
