Feast for Crows finished. I'm all caught up with (available) George R. R. Martin books. Eagerly awaiting Dance with Dragons.

In the meantime... I need something to read from now until July 12th.

Hmm... I'm not sure if this is the right thread, since it involves writing and not reading, but I've been working on a few not-so-short stories, and I've almost finished one. Anyone interested in being part of a test audience when I'm done? Sci-Fi / fantasy of sorts. It probably won't be for a couple of months still, but just something to think about.

I consider myself a writer. I'd be hella interested.

Giggity. I think I got about 20 more pages to make the first story about 100 pages in all. Problem is the other 80 pages took me 4 years, so it might still be a while.

Found this on Stumbleupon. Read it. It was kinda weird. Sort of humorous in parts. I dunno how I feel about it as a whole. But, I figured I'd share it, someone here might get a kick out of it.

I... Like this?

I don't like any individual character... I, in-fact, think I hate everyone in the story except the one police dude.

Pure comic book related mess. There are a few highlights over the last few months as well as things from "The New 52":

TMNT - new comic being made with input by original creators of TMNT. It is gritty and pretty cool so far. They're up to issue 2. Should check it out...looks like it has some stuff going for it.

Ressurection Man - pretty sweet comic about a guy who, if he dies, he wakes up as a different person with different wants and needs. Constant amnesia. Heaven and Hell both want his soul because it is the most valuable soul in existence.

OMAC - pretty sweet throwdown for him. Very Jack Kirby in the style.

Animal Man - fucked, weird, family man with some crazy art work.

Penguin Pain and Prejudice - 5-part miniseries on Issue 1 that looks at what made Penguin end up like he does. I really like these kind of stories. Making the villians far much more real and plausibly like-able/more repulsive.

Red Skull Incarnate - 5-part mini-series on Issue 4 that looks at what made Red Skull into Hitler's right hand man. It is pretty sweet so far going into final 2 issues. Cover art is amazing.

Magneto Testament - Old, but same as the previous 2...5 part series detailing what made him the way he was as a child. Haven't started reading but about to.

Others on list:
All-star western #1
Captain America #4
Xmen Regenesis
Xmen Schism
Xmen Messiah Complex

I'm 50 issues into The Walking Dead. Holy shit, this series gets really dark. And yes, I realize I'm talking about a series based around the zombie apocalypse. It's even darker than I expected from that premise, and being familiar with the show.

It's clearly keeping my interest, as I type this post at 3 AM after reading 20 issues straight... I recommend this to everyone here. I believe they're up to issue 89, so I'm past half way to catching up. If I have nothing to do this weekend, I should be up to speed, and then I have to wait a while between each issue... That's gonna suck.

surprisingly Catwoman is one of my favorite re-boots from DC's new 52.

Also reading the following graphic novels: Dr. Horrible and Other Horrible Stories & Serenity: Shepard's Tale.

It was completely different from the other, like, 20-some I read. It stood out. Different will at least hold my attention for a while until I widdle the list of how many I stick with down to, hopefully, 10.

I'm not even saying it's in top 5. All-Star Western, Red Hood, Detective Comics, Swamp Thing, and Aquaman are all over that one without question.

Also surprising? Firestorm. Gonna keep checking that out.

Do you just like zero in on pointlessly shameless objectification of previously decent female heroines subconsciously or what

All Star Western and Aquaman were great though

My personal favorites so far are Action Comics, Batman (mostly because the art is great) and Batwoman. Haven't read them all yet though

Actually I'm enjoying Red Hood basically for The Red Hood. The chick I see as kind of pointless at the moment. I also don't know who the fuck it is. Isn't it that chick from Teen Titans? Again, not knowing anything but the most basic stuff from the DC Universe makes this all very interesting. What I know of the red hood I know from "Under the red hood" and that's the character I'm enjoying through that.

Issue 1 of Suicide Squad was pretty cool also....issue 2 wasn't too bad. Shit...Animal Man and Ressurection Man are 2 I completely forgot about when typing this but have been raving about after I read them.

Yeah, I had a 14+ hour car trip yesterday so I borrowed that off my cousin to read on the way. Read over half of it, I'm finding it pretty interesting.
