I went busking in a busy part of town (around the corner from my house) from around midnight to 4 and made $71.50, a double chicken burger, a few kisses, two friends, 3 lines of speed, a line of very good coke, a line of mdma and 3 joints. I bought breakfast and when I wake up this evening I'm off to my pot dealer to do it all again.

HI ASIO! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE COST OF LIVING IS HIGHER THAN WELFARE

I posted this on the various social media sites but just in case it was missed, I'm getting a comic published in NF Magazine (a spiritual successor to Nintendo Power)

The comic has been emailed off and its all set to be in their Sept/Oct issue. You can buy it here: http://nfmagazine.com/ if you are so inclined.

No. It was a kickstarter reward thing. It's a one shot deal and no money. Still, I'm getting into a magazine. Pretty cool.

Storytime!

Birthday was on Saturday, good stuff. Got 150 bucks apparently.
So I took the cash, bought a $60 EA Cash Card to pre-order Dragon Age: Inquisition and start pre-loading it.

Mistake #1. Apparently it doesn't work on pre-orders.

However, I actually looked through their terms of service and sales before I bought the card, it stated that any extra charges could be paid for with credit or paypal to bring the balance required to 0.

So, I contact EA Customer Support after this little fun time.
That's when I learned about the fact that I can't do that on pre-orders.
Out of that I'm told to contact them again tomorrow and was given a 15% off Purchase code (Which doesn't work on Pre-Orders... or games within the first few months.)

Today I contacted them again, explained the entire situation and requested the documentation that expressly prohibits the terms of service and sales on the EA Cash Card for Pre-Orders over the amount in a user's EA Wallet.

I also expressed that I still would like to pre-order the game if possible.

About an hour after them consulting a specialist, I was given the $80 Digital Deluxe Edition for free and got to keep my $60.

Bought SimCity Complete out of it for the hell of it since it has an offline mode now.

EDIT:

Oh, mistake #2 was thinking EA could do shit right.

Question: This is all online, right?

...why would you pre-order a download? It's not like there's a shortage of copies or anything.

Because it's a 25 fucking GB game that I didn't want to spend half a day downloading on shitty ass Comcast internet?
Why do you give a shit what I do with my money for the express purpose of a present?

Whoa. I feel like I may have rubbed you the wrong way somehow.

I truly didn't understand why somebody would pre-order a download and wanted to know. Didn't even know "preloading" was a thing.

I'm sorry if you thought I was questioning what you do with your money, I wasn't. I just didn't know what benefits there were to pre-ordering a download.

Pre-orders on console games always made sense - the store will make sure there's a copy for you. Like I said, I didn't know about this concept of being able to get the download done ahead of time.

I uh, I don't feel like your angry response here was warranted, just gonna toss that out there. I don't see where on earth I insinuated you were somehow spending money badly.

There were some implications, I apologize however.
Yeah, for a lot of major games, and some higher expected indie games for quite some time have been capable of pre-loading now.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth had a pre-load, but unfortunately didn't launch at midnight like more of your major releases do.

Dragon Age: Inquisition was one of them, it's to allow players who prefer PC gaming over Console to start at the same time.
Either way, getting an $80 game for $60, and keeping the money to use other things is still a pretty happy thing.

"Oh man, what job did they give you?"

"Working with the NHL. What'd you get?"

"Janitor at the car factory on the south side."

"The one with the free white castle everyday?"

"Yep."

*silence as he walks away so damn sad*

So my buddy started working at Purdue last year. He has been doing pretty well there, and got an ear on a database job that he recommended me for (without my knowledge). I just met with the head of the department, and she really liked me. I don't have any non-profit experience, but it seems to not matter much. She informed me that they would pay for training and/or classes to learn about that. They, also, would work with me towards getting a degree in non-profit work if I wanted to pursue it. I have one more interview with the board of directors, but she wants me to be the guy.

So, within the next few weeks, I should become the database and communications coordinator for the 4H organization of Indiana. :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome:

Weird stuff: It'll be the first time I'm working a proper scheduled job in over a decade. I'll be doing an 8-4:30 job, mon-fri, paid holidays, no required overtime, weekends off (although, she said I'll have to go to some Fundraising events throughout the year being as I'm working with organization in such a close manner).

So pumped. I now have to find some nice gift to get my buddy for throwing my name in the hat. Maybe I'll get him Overwatch? Hmmmmm......

1. I feel incredibly violated that my signature is being used for spambot purposes.

2. I would like some fun facts about elephants, actually, thank you.

My brother owns a nerd store in St. Aug now!

I'm sure all of the locals are already aware of it from us totally whoring it out on Facebook, but I'm super excited that I get to work at a nerd store that's got room for tabletop gaming. It's the realization of a dream, really, and it's going to be so great to get to build a community there.

We're gonna do like Rock Band and Smash Bros and probably get into MTG and Pokemon TCG and stuff, too. Japanese snacks, manga, a metric shit ton of comic books, tons of cool nerd apparel.

It's basically everything that we bring to the conventions, and everything that we love to do at cons/nerd stores, and we're in charge, so we can make sure it's a friendly and fun environment and make everyone feel welcome, too, and if anyone starts shit, we can tell em to fuck off. You know how wonderful it is to be working a retail job where you have to power to tell shitty people to fuck off? It's euphoric.

Also, like...it's a big enough store, we could probably totally have space for the Neskimos to do a show there, haha

I think his contract says he can't plug in amplifiers to the walls or something, though. Something about zoning or I dunno. So, uh, rare acoustic neskimos set? :coookieesssss:

Anyway, I'm pretty fucking stoked about this. And if anyone in the area wants to dick around and do some board gaming, I'm gonna be stuck there a lot during the day, and have nothing to do when it's not busy, so hit me up on here or Facebook (probably FB cuz I'm terrible about checking this forum lately) and we can set something up.
