I've had the Lego stuff up at the flea market for a few months now. Typical day is pretty good out there. Most of my sales are little kids blowing their allowance, but every now and then I get a collector comes through and dumps half their paycheck, which is awesome. Also did my first convention last weekend, BelleCon. Pretty busy, but was the wrong venue for Lego stuff. If I get a boat load of pink and purple bricks and make My Little Pony statues, they would sell well there, but the x-wings and stuff didn't go very well.

Here's my setup at the convention.

This last one is the other display case I have, taken at the flea market.

The display cases are a new and awesome thing I've managed to get my hands on for really cheap. If anyone within driving distance of me wants one, I can cut you a really good deal on them (much lower than Con prices for sure).

So here's what's new. I've made contact with the Lego black market (if there is such a thing). The display cases are obtained that way from a guy from out of state. They can be sold as long as they aren't sold by the original guy that got a hold of them and not in the same state in which he got them. I'm looking for buyers for these things, because I've got a lot of them. Just keep an ear out and if you find someone who wants to buy one I'll make sure you get a little something for the assistance.

Also, I'm going to have my own booth at Megacon next year, and possibly Dragoncon this year. The Dragoncon one will be shared with another group, but whatever man, IT's fucking DRAGONCON!!!

I've been restocking using various websites and clearance sales, which is awesome when I find a good one. Wal-Mart was particularly helpful with a load of "damaged" hobbit Lego sets last week. All I ask is for anyone who hears of a store with a possible clearance sale, or if you happen to see a cart full of clearance priced Lego stuff at a Target or something, please send me a text. These things are pretty rare to find, but when I hit the right ones OMG IT'S AWESOME!

I also got the hookups with cheap-o plushies for conventions. Now I know why the vendors at Megacon took some convincing to buy those Pikachu's from me at $7 each... Apparently they get them for under $1 sometimes, as long as you buy like 100 at once :coookieesssss:

To the fellow Neskimites that have been going to various conventions that I may not have heard of - Do you guys know of any with say, more than 1,000 attendees that would be within the Lego demographic? The one I was at last weekend was pretty good, and I would have done very well if the booth wasn't fucking $250. Even for a very Anime-heavy crowd, still did like $160 in sales, which would have been worth it if the booth was like $75 or something.

Probably doing ACC and Anime Day in Daytona this year (Anime Day is 5-31, 1 day convention with about 800 people showing up) and there is the possibility of going to a con every weekend in July and September this year. Anyone going to a convention not in FL with hotel rooms, I'll be glad to split cost of hotel if the possibility still exists of getting a booth. Gencon, for example, would be really good for me, but I couldn't afford the whole thing AND getting my own hotel room, at least not at this point.

look into Orlando Nerdfest, they may have booths and stuff in addition to the bands.

If you're looking at ponies your best bets are pink, purple, and yellow as Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, and Fluttershy are usually the most popular ponies.

Derpy has a huge following, also.

I was just thinking Mane Six. Outside of that, yeah Derpy is popular by a huge margin. Also Princess Luna and Vinyl Scratch/DJ Pon-3. I mean everybody has their favorites but those are the ones everyone seems to love.
It's funny though. Rainbow Dash is usually thought of as the 'cool' one and yet most people get over their affection for her and move on to someone else fairly quickly. I, however, always thought she was a straight up bitch.

...

I'm sorry, I'll steer this topic away from ponies now.

advice right now:

Pick up the lego simpson packs. They go for about $3-4 in store, but individual figures are selling in the $7-8 price line on Ebay.

Picked up 40 of them the other day. Opened enough to get ~almost~ a full set. Figured out (with Nameless's help) how to tell which is which through the packaging. Going to save several for Megacon next year, they should be worth $10 + each by then.

Haven't been on here in quite a while (been insanely busy). Been to 10 or so conventions over the last few months. My inventory is HUGE now, more than enough to fill my booth at Megacon next year. I'll upload some pictures of my flea market store when I get the chance.

Also, I'm going to be kickstaring a small 1 or 2 day convention for next summer. Probably like $8 to get in the door, nice and cheap. Will be somewhere near the highway in St. Augustine.

Lots of planning to do though, will keep everyone updated.

No idea. I was thinking something to go along with St. Aug, like Auggiecon, but that just sounds fucking stupid when I say it out loud. I've gotta work on that still.

Okay, I like that one, haha.

I was thinking AugCon had a good ring to it, too. Succinct, easy to remember...but kinda generic, there's no pop to it, ya know?

If we aren't going for location centered names, maybe Wrath of Con? Or, we could make that be the subtitle for the second year of it. Like {Whatever Con} II: The Wrath of Con.

could call it Augustine Con, and then every year just have some subtitle. That way, people can buy shirts with the subtitles for the year they attend. Even hold a contest, on a forum, where people submit con subtitle names and the one chosen gets that person free entry into the con?

AugCon: Ponce De LeCon
AugCon 2: Electric Bugaloo (because, of course)
AugCon 3: (insert name here)
etc
etc
