Now that I've decided to cut back on vacations, I find that I'm attending a lot more concerts. Nov 25th, Nameless and I saw Avenged Sevenfold in Jax. Fucking awesome concert.

And yeah, I made friends with a drunk guy in front of me to keep him from headbutting this other guy. I lost the guy in the pit later. Took a face to my knee too...

Concerts coming up that I'm attending -

Janurary 21st - Orlando - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Tickets are already sold out except for nose-bleed seats :(

Sorry Nameless, I would have picked up a ticket for you as well, but we had a hard enough time finding 2 seats, let alone the 4 others that Steph was buying for family.

April 21st - Tampa - Rammstein

Got pit tickets for this one. Gonna have to wear my plate armor for this one.

You probably can't get tickets for the Chili Peppers, they were almost out 5 minutes after they went on sale, but it looks like there's plenty of Rammstein tickets available. If anyone in the area gets tickets, we should all make a party out of it. Only bad news is that they're $90 each.

Oh, btw, I'm in this video. You can't see me, but if you look to the bottom right of the stage you can make out about 6 cell-phone lights and a circle pit. Nameless and I are somewhere near there. I blacked out because I insisted on singing along with the guitar and holding out the scream at the end of the solo. Fucking awesome show.

Double post for I HAD A WONDERFUL DAY!

In order of who I saw:
Steel Panther(By the gods, so many boobies, everywhere, it's kind of how I imagine heaven to be like)
Hell Yeah
Shadows Fall
Meshuggah(They always sound soooo good and they even played a new track for the first time)
Coal Chamber(their first concert in like 10 years :D )
Mastodon(I'm so glad I saw these guys, they're amazing live)
Dillinger Escape Plan(Ignoring the second half of my post, they put on a pretty good show and despite the tech issues they still sounded pretty good)
Black Label Society(Zack being Zack.. "widdlywiddlywiddlywaaaahwiddlywahwiddlywaaaaAAAaaaAAAhhhhHHhh")
Devin Townsend(A god amongst men)
Lamb of God(They really know how to get the crowd going, sound awesome live too)

I think the best thing to happen though was what happened at the Dillinger stage.
The PA/Sound guys fucked everything up so sometimes instruments and microphones would cut out, The singer did NOT like that at all, he started hurling the microphone stands into the crowd, and then later microphones and he even picked up and threw one of those big metal equipment boxes. They changed their mind on what to play last at the last second and halfway through they smashed up all the amps and drums and apologised for Soundwave being too shitty to set things up right. It was awesome.

suck it KEVIN!

May 8th (my birthday) Coheed and Cambria will be playing a show that is 6 blocks from my old apartment. Now sure its a 2-hour drive, but still, they are essentially in my backyard. The place holds, maybe, 500 people. This is going to be insane!!! Also, 21+ only. So the crowd will be uber-awesome.

Presale goes tomorrow at noon and I'm buying, hopefully, 15-ish then having my b-day party in b-town with awesome friends.

They're a somewhat tongue in cheek homage to 70s metal.

Yeah, after about 3 listens of the album it really is just a great piece of music front to back that fits with him. It was just a slight different side and came off odd the first few times I heard it and I'm not sure why.

3 hours till the concert.... I'm still trying to figure out how to record the whole thing without having to hold my phone all the while...

Solution : Velcro! We'll see how this works.

Double Post Because : 24 hours later...

So I recorded a total of about 50 minutes, which was much less than half of the concert. The opening act was a DJ that spun re-mixes of Rammstein songs through his Mac-book (it was full of WUBs) with his trusty unicorn friend holding his beer.

Seriously, guy had a stuffed unicorn holding his beer. How much more fucking metal can you get?

the Velcro idea didn't work, since tall people were in front of us, so I just held up my phone since my hands were in the air most of the time anyways.

They didn't do the whole dildo-spewing creme liquor for Buch Dich, but he had a mask that sprayed the audience.

Also, prop they used for "Pussy"... I want one of these. I'm somewhere in front and to the left of whoever filmed this one.

Coheed played for about 2 hours on Tuesday night. They finished at about 1am. Got in a GOTYE cover, Deranged from Arkham City Soundtrack, and went through chunks of every album. It was pretty damn sweet. Zach Cooper, the new bassist, can fill the role well and Josh can play Chris' drum parts from YotBR and No World for Tomorrow so YAY!

Claudio being the only performer on Mother Superior in person is incredible.

In case anyone was wondering, this:

...was unbelievably good. This band and album comes highly recommended. Possibly the best show I've ever been to?

[EDIT] - The show was recorded for a live DVD, but I found this on the tubes:

^^^^^That is pretty fucking sweet. I may have to check that whole thing out.

Here is the end of Coheed's set someone uploaded. And yes, this is basically at the back of the crowd. Venue that small + Coheed = sweet

This man speaks the truth. Fuck stadiums or festivals. Coheed at Starland Ballroom is one of my favorite concert experiences ever. Better than Offspring at Starland, and about on par with GA tickets for Maiden.
