Whoa, I don't get to be the first or only person to choose Starfucker. I'm a little disappointed, but also glad you know about such a good album.

My top 3 for the year:

Raekwon: Shaolin vs Wu-Tang
Image

Team Teamwork: Super Nintendo Sega Genesis
Image

Starfucker: Reptilians
Image

It wasn't a great year for me and new music, but those 3 albums are great.

For me the best album I've heard this year is easily Tyler The Creator's "Goblin".

I have to give this album another shot. I was really looking forward to it and really wanted to love it. But when it came out, I just couldn't get into it. To me, it didn't really have any song that jumped out like all their other albums did. Even if it had one or two, their other albums usually have 4 or 5. I was disappointed in it. But like I said, I'll give it another shot.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Cage The Elephant's Thank You Happy Birthday

Annnd, that's kind of the only new album I've heard this year.

Also I guess I was supposed to post a picture of the album art and link to a song on youtube because that's what you all did and I want to be cool like you guys.

I prefer Childish Gambino over Tyler the Creator by far. Not just because it's more aimed at people like me. I just find the pacing of Tyler's music to be too slow. To me, there's nothing catchy about it.

That's fair, I suppose. Personally I don't really think Tyler is supposed to be "catchy", that's not really the point of his music. It's all vaguely unsettling and doesn't really sit right with the listener, and I think that's an intentional stylistic decision. Tyler doesn't seem to really want people to be rapping along to his music in the car, he wants people to be saying "wait, what the fuck was that?"

the only album i've heard released this year was the new battles album, which I liked but not as much as mirrored, and the new radiohead album which i didnt bother listening to again.
I'm always a little behind in these things.
my album of 2009 was Embyronic - The Flaming Lips. 2010 was InnerSpeaker - Tame Impala.

What was your favorite album of 1963?

I don't judge you. She can fucking sing, man. Reminds me of Janice Joplin with how much soul she puts into it.

get out of here

this is soul Click me! (30secs or so)

there are tonnes of better female vocalists. Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin... white women don't have soul! (except the two i posted :p)

I have not heard of most of these bands. I stumbled across Deer Hunter once and sort of dug them. New music man... sometimes im scared of it... plus, i dont know how to actually find it without feeling like im wasting time by hearing bad stuff.
