more like most (note: I cannot spell 'definitely' correctly)...

I never actually played that game that much. I always died in the damn jungle at the beginning and just gave up. So I only that song that plays while you're getting bombed by guys flying on helicopter things. It was a good song though, if I'm remember correctly.

I guess after Wily picks his own, he'll just pick the one that pleads the best case or is the most well written... I really don't know, I Just hope mine gets picked...

I think all the band members read through the essays, and they're gonna discuss the ones that they like the best, or something. And then they';; pick three winners from there.

*edit*
Hey, wow, there's only like 15 or 16 essays (one less if we don't count Gilga's, cuz they probably won't) , and if 3 win (counting Wily's as one, only 2 win), then that's like a 1 in 7 chance of winning, just about. Oh, and since I submitted two, I have an even better chance of one of em winning. Wee! Math can be fun sometimes!

If they even come close to mentioning my essay, I will be grateful.
E.G:
Wily- Hmmm, I count sixteen essays.
Mario- No, theres fifteen. That stupid ass pirate essay doesn't count.

That'd be my finest hour.

NESkimos playing SMB2
By: Bogey

I think it would be awesome if the NESkimos covered the songs from Super Mario Bros. 2 in the same way that they covered Contra. Super Mario Bros. 2 is the most overlooked game in the SMB line-up in terms of quality. Super Mario Bros. 2 also used music that was far different from the original Mario game and as with the original Mario game the music stood out very well. I also feel that this music sounds more structured and even sounds alot more advanced that the original Mario games music. It would also be best to make a ballad/continuing song as done with Contra and the original Mario song to keep in that flow. And easily the best way to help you see that side of view is by bringing up the actual game itself.

Super Mario Bros. 2 is by far one of the top ten games to ever be released on Nintendo's original home console the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It took the normal Miyamoto approach to video games and took gaming to a level not seen to that point. Instead of just making a quickly rushed and inferior game Miyamoto decided to change the look of the original to use the major graphical capabilities of the NES and also tweaked the gameplay to provide a refreshing yet not totally new gamestyle. For this time there was a back-story told through the opening and Mario could do more than just bonk enemies upon the skull. Miyamoto changed the gameplay formula to work on players searching levels for secret potions and using enemies to take out other enemies.

As with the gameplay the music recieved a major tweaking and was put into a very high standard. The very opening of the game looks to be that of an old western movie which is why at the beginning the 'ragtime-esque' music was very appropriate and used to make a lasting impression upon the gamer. As it comes to the attention of the player that now you can pick your character between four heroes the music is then made to change towards modern times and sounds like a tweaked version of some original Mario music. The music changes in each of the single levels themselves should be admired just because it was one of the very first games to change the musical score during the level and not just at a major boss battle (though it did that quite nicely as well).

With the musical improvements and amazing scores on each level and world I feel this game deserves what I deem 'The Contra Treatment'. This game has an amazing score from title menu to finish and I believe that it should be heard as one solid piece. From the potion inacted silent rooms to the blissful sound of a character climbing upon a vine. The boss battles are worth the mention just for the guitar part they allow. As easy as the dino spits out an egg the guitar can give a low howl to announce its approach. The mid-change that happens when going into a cave/tunnel and changing from a dessert or ragtime feel into an odd techno feel is unmistakably genious and should not be missed by anyone.

This is one of the first real games that paid attention to the sounds and music it used and was done so very effectively. Super Mario Brothers 2 is easily a benchmark for Nintendo in showing how they will always try new things and attempt to keep a game fresh. This was the first game in which not only gameplay but background music was put at such a high standard. The score of this game from beginning to end is amazing to the point where not one sound should really be missed. And that is why I feel that the NESkimos should give Super Mario Brothers 2 'The Contra Treatment'.

Ummm....actually, Mario 2 is some other game with Mario characters slapped on (Doki Doki Panic, I think) because Nintendo thought the real Mario 2 was too hard for Americans (Mario: The lost levels). But yes, It had cool music.

Mario 2 is still my favorite NES mario game... I don't care if it's just another game with mario's face slapped on it, it's still damn fun...

I dont' know, you could take a shot... I remember a while back Wily had a poll to see if everyone approved of them covering songs from PC games, but I don't know if they're pursuing that or not. I don't think they're planning any PC game covers for the next album either...

Maniac Mansion :\m/: But it was an NES game, too, so that's a good loop hole, which I thusly exposed in my essay a few pages back.
