Dude, I want to carry your art work at my convention booths.

But failing that, you should get an artist alley booth at a convention.

But if you're too busy, I'd love to take a few of your paintings to ACC8 or Megacon next year or something. I'm not saying I would sell them for a ton o cash or anything, but a few would probably sell for like $20 - $50 depending on the sizes.

your backdrops are looking a lot cleaner. doing much better on the shading also.

if you can clean up your lines(i know, this is a bitch with paint) a little bit and learn to use the height/consistency of the paint to more of an advantage: @250 wouldn't be out of the question. your forms are a lot better and you're good at keeping proportions(which is key, and something i really suck at). you just need to smooth things out a little before people will be willing to throw down some decent change. but there is a pretty good market for one-shot hand-painted items. they're worth a lot more than prints. anyone can do digital. paint is legitimately difficult.

I've been working on cleaning up the lines, it just gets a little tough and tedious going back over them with either the color inside or color outside. Good fine-tipped brushes have been helpful. I'd be interested to see how much I could get for them, but I also enjoy filling my home with all this colorful crap.

If I were to get a booth at one of these things, would I be obligated to sell anything, or could i just bring a bunch of canvases and paint and answer questions?

I think that most conventions would want you to have your stuff for sale if you had a booth, even if it's ridiculously priced. There was a guy at Dragon Con a few years ago that did artwork for Stephen King books (Dark Tower, in particular) as well as the cover art for the program for the convention. I don't think he ended up selling anything besides prints, but he had several of the originals with him. The one that was used for the Dragon Con program cover art was there with a price tag of $28,000. I wouldn't put a tag of that high, but you could do a show and put a price on them high enough to be a number that you couldn't actually refuse. I don't know what that number for you would be, but as an example, I have a Lego display case that I really don't want to sell, but just take to shows to use as an eye-catcher. That being said, I won't argue with someone if they offer the $500 that I'm going to put on the price tag, especially since I only paid $50 for it in the first place.

I haven't tried any new ideas to smooth out the lines. I still don't really care all that much.

I'm about halfway through sketching out something big.

That's a 36" x 48" canvas. I need more figures to add to it. Sorry bout the low quality, it's a phone pic. There's also a lot of smudges on it. Left handedness rules!

Wow, coming in here made me realize just how long I've been putting off working on this painting. Time flies, people.
