What sort of art are you looking for?

Locrian and I playtested it over the weekend, and it's a pretty damn fun game.

Easy to pick up on how to play, but still difficult to beat. That's good.

I'd offer my services if I could do better than crappy MSpaintings.

im trying to get some advice from someone currently. The style i am looking for is sort of like the MGS arty stuff. its kinda sleek and conveys a spy like feel.

Maybe hit up Soruja? I think he's pretty good at that sort of thing.

Or a friend of mine from back home does some very badass art.

So, I mean, if you're hurting for artists, I could probably get you in contact with someone, but if you've got somebody, awesome.

i am not sure yet, but i will keep you posted.

We need a cover artist, card art for each of the various gadgets and traps, and someone to design symbols for dice. also, we will need a logo to put on the cover obviously, as well as backs of cards. Maybe a lil art in the rulebook.

as for compensation, i really have no idea what the standard is or what my options are. i figured perhaps a portion up front and then percentage of sales?

Not sure about game art, but generally the standard for pencils on a short comic story (for a new artist and writer) are between $25-50 with extra added for ink, lettering, color, etc.
I can try and get you in touch with some artist friends who would be able to give you a better idea of money. As for where to find them you can go to www.drawingboard.org or even just deviantart.

you could try emailing this guy Nicholas Kay. He streams a lot of his work (with permission from the commissioner). He's done a lot of warhammer work, but says his prices are very reasonable.

essentially lost our producer today. so now i have a perfectly fine game, but no real idea how to get it produced into a thing i can sell to the masses.

So... either i can pitch the idea to other gaming companies and hope i wont get screwed. or just see what I can do...

I will keep you all posted on whats going on.

This might sound incredibly naive (because it absolutely is), but what service exactly was the producer providing for you?

essentially he was going to do all the non creative stuff. Get in touch with artists, conveying what i wanted done, researching different places that mass produce things for games, pricing everything, giving me all the totals and stuff like that. all the "Business" stuff essentially. That way i could focus on the game itself and the future expansions.

also, apparently i like to use the word "essentially."

it occured to me today that i have no idea what i am doing when it comes to getting it actually made into a marketable product. I did a little looking into different game places that make the stuff each game would need and i got overwhelmed. I havent even followed back with the artists because i dont exactly know how to get them to draw stuff in a format that could be used to... ugh, i dont even...

i am very frustrated..

keep your artist in the loop. Even if you don't have anything to share.

If you have one and like them, make sure they know what's going on. I know from personal experience, if you just stop talking to them they will line up other projects and become less likely to work with you.

Seriously. Even if you're gonna send a message that says "Hey, I'm trying to get some marketing stuff done and getting a little over my head. We lost our producer but I'm still 100% committed." That'll go a long way.

Keep them in the loop.

So, i guess i want to pitch the idea to someone. There is a local gaming company called Attack Dice. I wanted to self publish, but i literally have no idea what i am doing and when i even start to try something, i get really anxious and freak out.

Someone to find out how much everything will cost for the first run, find an artist, work on prices. Be able to translate all the art to the game pieces/box/and such. then once thats done, we know how much we will need, from there we kickstarter or get the funds ourselves.

Basically all the business crap.

i'm no good at that end, but once you have the figures: let me know. i've been saving up. i'd take a risk and throw a good portion of the startup money at this if i could see it back once you're rolling. i have a couple grand saved up atm.

My kinda-sorta-step brother is a pretty good artist. I'm gonna throw some inquiries his way.
