Yeah I finished book 1 a month before season 2 and totally got distracted by another book so I'm watching fresh on this season. I'm hoping by Season 3 I have the book series finished.

The television show is so damn good. HBO is proving what you can get out of a program if you treat it like a Hollywood blockbuster film.

Huh, the queen IS a CuntHammer. :cookieshmm:

Also, seriously, I'm just counting down the days until Joffrey is a fucking corpse. The fact that it hasn't happened yet is just amazing to me.

The Queen slapping the everloving fuck out of him and keeping her pimp hand strong was nice, though. Put that little cunt right in his place. :awesome:

I need to sleep, but I want to watch more. Therefore, I will sleep now, and jump out of bed tomorrow like it's Christmas Morning and watch the fuck out of this while eating left over pizza. Tomorrow will be good. Tomorrow will be really good. :drmario:

Did I mention I'm caught up to the series now? Fuck, tonight's episode was good.

Did they kill off Tyrion? I'm not really sure, it was kind of vague. I guess I'll know next week.

ANYONE DIES WITH A CLEAN SWORD, I'LL RAPE YOUR FUCKING CORPSE!!!

That episode was awesome (even though it ended so goddamn abruptly), and now we have the season finale to set the table for next season. CANT WAIT.

I dont think he's dead. Looked like it just startled him/slight deep cut on his face. But man, he was kicking ass. Great episode. So much to do though in the last episode and then we have to fucking wait forever. shit....

Question for the book readers: if I just start on book 3, am I going to be completely fucking lost?

That's how I did Harry Potter. Watched the first 3 movies, then I was like "Alright, fuck this. Book time!" and finished the rest of the series like that.

So, would I be able to do that with this series, or is it recommended that I start over at Book 1 and just blast through all of em?

I've read book one and it is basically the exact same thing. Only difference is there is a tid bit more stuff in books.

You should be fine if you start reading with Storm of Swords (book 3). The show is actually a little fast with certain stories (Jaime and Brienne wandering around the woods doesn't happen until book 3), so you'll be slightly ahead of the story.

Here's the problem - a vast number of characters were supposed to show up this season, but didn't (most are going to be introduced next season, the creators didn't want to overwhelm the audience). Season 2 deviates quite a bit from the books, particularly in regards to Robb and Daenerys' stories. Also, large parts of certain storyline were cut out (I won't go into detail here, for those who might want to read the books).

I'd recommend the books for everyone, but they are long and can be difficult to get through. The problem is that the series is starting to deviate quite a bit from the books in certain regards. It's yet to be seen how these differences are going to affect the show going forward, but there have already been at least a few incidents of characters dying on the show who haven't died in the books (granted, they're all minor characters). Purists don't consider the show canon, but these are all minor quibbles in my eyes. The overall story remains mostly unchanged, and all the major plot points are accounted for.

That all being said, if you have the time and patience I'd recommend reading the first two books as well. It'll only add to the overall experience and with two seasons of the show under your belt you'll find it much easier to follow all the names and places. But, if you decided to skip 'em you won't be lost.
