So, for October, Noel and I are going to take turn picking out halloween type movies and stuff for us to watch for the entire month.

I have a few selections, but could really use ideas for more.

Parameters:
can be funny
crazy
B-movies
New stuff thats good
nothing too terribly gory, unless its clever or has good story to go with it.
so fucking terrible its hilarious
Netflix prefered.

Thanks!

The Thing is still probably my favorite horror movie. So, you know, that, I guess.

Also Let the Right One In, [REC], V/H/S/

Videodrome is a great classic not many people think of

I forgot about VHS. Need to see that. Also REC 3, although I was very unsure of that...

REC 2 is pretty badass though.

Detention looked entertaining if it's the movie I'm thinking of. Josh Hutcherson, right?

Also, if you haven't seen it, watch Attack the Block. Fantastic movie.

I need to see Detention and Attack the Block. In case somehow you missed it, I'm a pretty big fan of Cabin in the Woods. I didn't realize Creepshow is on Netflix. That's awesome :\m/:

I actually need to increase my horror collection. I only have a couple monster movies. I always forget how much I like monster movies. I need to see if there's like, a Harryhausen collection or something. Apparently Universal just put out a Blu-Ray collection that's all of the classic Universal horror movies in one package. I need to get that.

EDIT - Also, for B-movies, you need to see The Lost Skeleton of Cadavara. Hell everybody needs to see it. It's fantastic.

Detention is completely insane, in a good way. Watch it with Cabin in the Woods and Attack the Block for a trifecta of amazing modern horror movies. Also, Tremors. Graboids need love too.

No, no you don't. Might as well make a Coscarelli. Evening out of it with Bubba HoTep and Phantasm.

Jacob's Ladder is the only movie i've seen that really gets under my skin. it's in the way it's shot. do not look it up if you haven't seen it.

the bath tub part. and the slow burn of piecing it together.

though, every time i've watched the movie; it's been between 3-5am, alone, stoned, in the mood for a movie, and i recall that jacob's ladder was supposed to be a good one. then after a while; i remember what it was about and my skin starts crawling as my stomach tries to turn it's self inside out.

I need a way to note all the movies I've seen. It's been too damn many lately and most modern horror films just plain suck. I remember Insidius beeing quite nice, especially visually. Sinister also had some nice moments but the big bad in that one was just too ridiculus.

I do remember V/H/S though. It wase pure dreck. Boring dreck too. Tedium. Seriously, found footage movies can suck my balls. [REC], [REC]² and especially Troll Hunter were amazing, everything else is just shit. Ok, maybe Incident at Loch Ness, but that's not really a horror film... I guess. It's just Werner Herzog being awesome with a twist ending.

I re-watched The Thing for the umpteenth time last night and it just amazes me again and again, how damn good this movie is, how amazing the practical effects still look.

There's one problem in my horror consumption: My GF really loves any sort of ghos/ghost house/posession flick, so I've seen far more of those in the past 2 years than I ever would want to. It's so amazing: Watch The Exorcist... after that movie, nothing new came to the table. Same with The Haunting (1963). Everything in these sub genres is a very badly staged remake of those two movies.

I miss the old body-horror Cronenberg.

I thought the first mini-film or whatever on V/H/S was pretty alright, the one with the creepy ass succubus bitch or whatever. Even then, it wasn't "great" by any means.

The effects in that one with the crazy-ass house were pretty neat, but the story was garbage.

The one about the traveling couple made me wanna stab everyone involved.

Oh god, yeah, that and the camping one were both awful. And the one with the video chats or whatever was sort of a neat premise but had like, no execution.

Have there been any type of anthology movies lately? I miss Creepshow, Twilight Zone the Movie, or the first Tales from the Crypt film?

I feel like there should be. There's a market for those in the in-demand and horror dvd markets right?

VHS and The ABCs of Death are big ones from the last year or two
